VBScript will be disabled by default in Internet Explorer 11

VBScript is a client-side scripting language such as JavaScript which is now outdated. Microsoft has announced that VBScript will be disabled by default for Internet Explorer 11. It will also be disabled in WebOCs for Internet and Untrusted zones on all platforms running Internet Explorer 11. This change is effective for Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 as of the July 9^th, 2019 cumulative updates.

However, Microsoft is still letting developers or anybody else who needs to utilize this legacy scripting language. It is available as a configuration as per site security zone, via Registry, or Group Policy. If you need, you can enable it.

That said, if you want to disable it after your work is done instantly, you have three ways-

1] Microsoft offers a one-click easy Fix to disable VBScript in Internet Explorer 11 for Internet Zone and Restricted Sites Zone.

2] In the Group Policy Editor, navigate to:

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Internet Control Panel > Security Page > Restricted Sites Zone.

Double-click and edit the Allow VBScript to run in Internet Explorer setting

Do the same for Internet Zone by going to:

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Internet Control Panel > Security Page > Internet Zone.

VBScript was only available for Internet Explorer. It used to be the popular browser in the old days, and since debugging is difficult, it was never anybody’s favorite choice.
