The new Apple TV Siri Remote features a rechargeable battery that lasts quite a while and is overall certainly easier to deal with than swapping out one-time use batteries. But how do you know when the Apple TV remote is ready to be recharged?

While there is no visual indicator on the remote itself of battery charge or the battery life remaining, you can turn to the Apple TV Settings to discovery battery remaining on a connected Apple TV remote and the Siri remote controller.

Viewing Battery Life of Apple TV Remote Controls

Here’s what you’ll want to do to see the battery charge of an Apple TV remote:

  1. Open the Settings app on Apple TV, be sure he remote control is currently connected to the device
  2. Go to “Remotes & Devices” and then to “Bluetooth”
  3. Look for the “Remote” section to find the battery life of the Apple TV remote control

If you have other connected remote controls and devices, including game controllers, they will also appear in this screen.

This works to check the battery life of all Apple TV remote devices connected through Bluetooth, whether it’s the fancy new Siri Remote or the other remote control.

If for some reason you don’t see the remote listed at all, restarting the Apple TV typically resolves that issue to make it reappear again.

And of course if the remote isn’t working at all and it doesn’t appear in the Bluetooth Remote section, charging it for a while with a Lightning cable is usually the solution.
