On Snapchat, nothing was supposed to be permanent. But users didn’t realize that also applied to how they feel about the app. TikTok and BeReal are winning the popularity contest that is social media. And one-time influencer Snapchat is struggling to catch up. If you’re ready to leave it behind, we have all the info you’ll need below.
Even though you’ll be deleting your account with the following steps, the implementation is not immediate. Your account will be deactivated for 30 days, which means that no one will be able to contact or interact with you on Snapchat. And then 30 days after that, your account (including settings, friends, Snaps, Chats, and Stories, as well as device and location data in Snapchat’s user database) will be permanently deleted.
Delete Snapchat on iOS
Go to your profile, tap the gear icon, and select Settings. Scroll down to Account Actions and tap Delete Account. You’ll get a screen with a good-bye message. Enter your username and password again, click Continue, and then your account will be set to be deleted.
Delete Snapchat on Android and the Web
You can’t delete your account directly on an Android device. You’ll instead have to log in to the accounts portal, enter your username or email and password. You’ll come to a screen with a good-bye message. Enter your username and password once more, click Continue, and then your account will be set to be deleted.
