Google has released a new app launcher for Windows users. The Chrome app launcher is designed specially to help Chrome users opening the web apps outside the browser. With this Chrome app launcher the packaged apps can be launched from outside, instead of running as a tab inside the Chrome browser.windows-image-blogpost

Sriram Saroop, Google product manager posted in the official blog that the app launcher is presently available only for the Windows users and will soon be made available for Linux and Mac.

Saroop said, This is the same experience as the app launcher on Chromebooks, but for other platforms. It’s available on Windows now, and will be coming to Mac OS X and Linux soon”. App Launcher is a dedicated home for your apps which makes them easy to open outside the browser. The packaged apps launch outside the browser and work offline by default.

Users willing to use this app launcher need to install a Chrome packaged app like Text Drive or IRC client CIRC first. Once the app is installed, you will get the app launcher icon on your Windows taskbar.Just like the web apps, Chrome packaged apps are written in JavaScript, HTML and CSS and deliver a native- like experience across multiple platforms.
