Reinstalling the printer driver requires uninstalling the printer driver from your Windows 10/11 installation and then installing a fresh copy of the driver.
Steps to reinstall the printer driver in Windows 10/11
Here is how to reinstall the printer driver in Windows 10 and Windows 11.
NOTE: This method applies to printers from all brands, including HP, Canon, Epson, Brother, and Samsung.
Step 1: Perform a right-click on the Start button and then click the Device Manager option to open the same.
Step 2: In the Device Manager, expand the Printers tree to see your printer’s entry. If the Printers tree is not showing up, please connect your printer to your PC via the provided cable, turn it on, and then try again.
Step 3:Right-click on the printer’s entry and then click the Uninstall device option.
Step 4: Next, when you get the following dialog, select the Attempt to remove the driver for this device option before clicking the Uninstall button to begin uninstalling and removing the printer driver.
If you are asked to reboot, please do so to complete the uninstallation.
Step 5: Once the printer driver is uninstalled, visit your printer manufacturer’s website and download the printer driver. Be sure to download the correct driver. The easiest way is to search with your printer model number. The printer model number can be found on the printer.
Step 6: Run the downloaded printer driver installer and follow the easy on-screen directions to complete installing the driver. Note that you might be asked to connect your printer to your PC during the driver installation.
