The software giant announced the general availability of its Threat Experts Service – Experts on Demand for Windows users this Monday. The new capability would give customers direct access to real-life Microsoft threat analysts to aid security investigations.
Experts on Demand – Microsoft Threat Expert Service
Every organization or business establishment has some unique security scenarios and thus, some unique requirements. Keeping this need in mind, Microsoft has come up with ‘Expert on Demand’ service. The service is designed to investigate any security threats reported by users. At the same time, it will offer valuable insights needed to better understand, prevent and avert threats in different working environments.
Dustin Duran Principal Group Manager, Microsoft Defender ATP Research, wrote in a blog post,
Today, we are extremely excited to share that experts on demand is now generally available and gives customers direct access to real-life Microsoft threat analysts to help with their security investigations. Microsoft Defender ATP customers can engage directly with Microsoft security analysts to get guidance and insights needed to better understand, prevent, and respond to complex threats in their environments.
Experts-on-demand is the second component of Microsoft Threat Experts which is the managed threat hunting service within Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP). Before being rolled out for public use, Experts on Demand remains in preview for a year. During this period, customers had unlimited access to Experts-on-demand, for no extra charge.
Experts on Demand will be readily accessible from the Microsoft Defender Security Center app. Upon receiving a security alert, the customers will see an option ‘consult a threat expert’ in the drop-down menu on the Actions list.
