Windows 7 was one of the most popular and stable OS from Microsoft, and it’s no surprise that so many users are still stuck on it. However, End of Support is almost here. According to the Microsoft Support page, after January 14th, 2020, that’s early next year, Microsoft will no longer support Windows 7. If you are running Windows 7, expect a notification for the end of support soon.
End of Support notifications for Windows 7 users
To notify about this end of support to the consumers, Microsoft is rolling out an update KB4493132. Once the update is installed, Windows will show notification about the end of support. It is to make sure consumers completely aware of it. It means that there will be no security updates that will be available for consumers. If there is any security flaw detected, Microsoft will not fix it.

You should consider upgrading Windows 7 to Windows 10, as it will be difficult to secure Widows 7 after End Of Support.
Disable End of Support Notification:
If you are sure, and you do not want the notification to keep appearing all the time, here is how to disable it using the Registry.
- Open Registry Editor by typing regedit in the Run prompt followed by the Enter key.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindowsGwx
- Right-click on the right pane, and create a DWORD(32-bit) with name DisableGwx
- Once created, double click on it to change the value, and set it as 1.
- Next, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindowsWindowsUpdate
- Right-click on the right pane, and create a DWORD(32-bit) with name DisableOSUpgrade
- Once created, double click on it to change the value, and set it as 1.
Having done this, you will not get any notification on your Windows 7. While Microsoft does offer a checkbox that says, do not remind me again to avoid multiple notifications about it.

What about Windows 7 Enterprise and Server products?
Those running Windows 7 Enterprise and Server products will not get this update. This update will not install on devices running Professional and Enterprise editions of Windows 7, Windows Server products, on domain-joined devices, devices in kiosk mode, or devices that previously turned-off free upgrade notifications through registry settings. Business users can choose to pay and keep getting support. The price of support starts at $50 per user and year and double every following year. Consequently, the businesses will have to pay $100 and then $200 in the upcoming years. It will be supported for the next three years, and any size as long as its paid.
