The support for Android apps on Windows 11 made it an even better choice for many. Being able to use Android apps as well as Windows apps together on a Windows 11 PC seems a good deal. Unfortunately, Microsoft has announced that they are ending support for Android apps on Windows 11 starting from March 5, 2025.

Microsoft to end support for Android apps on Windows subsystem

One of the inventive features of Windows 11 is its support of Android apps. Though it uses Amazon Appstore to download and install Android apps, it is a notable feature with great potential. Microsoft has decided to end the support for Windows Subsystem for Android starting from March 5, 2025.

To get started on the deprecation, starting from March 6, 2024, users cannot search and install Android apps on Amazon Appstore. If you already have downloaded apps, you can get updates and continue using them until Microsoft ends complete support for Android apps. Developers cannot upload new apps to the Amazon Appstore starting March 6, 2024. They can only provide updates to the existing apps until deprecation.

Microsoft on its support page announced that the technical support for the customers will remain available until March 5, 2025. After March 5, 2025, as a result of ending support for Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA), the Amazon Appstore on Windows and all apps and games dependent on WSA will no longer be supported.

All the apps and games installed before March 5, 2024, will be supported until the end of time i.e. March 5, 2025.
