Nokia has recently made an announcement on its official blog, about an upcoming update for Lumia Windows Phone devices. The new update will bring performance enhancements and new features to the Camera app of phone. Nokia will start pushing the update on 27th June worldwide.
Nokia is also releasing a few new amazing apps next week along with the update. To use those apps you will first need to install the upcoming update using the Zune software.
Nokia has also partnered with Zynga, the leading online & mobile gaming company, to make hit games like Words with Friends and Draw Something available exclusively for Lumia smartphone owners.
The new Nokia apps, the announcement says, will start appearing in Windows Phone Marketplace from next week. You can install them instantly on your Lumia smartphones once available after installing the software update.
These are the new apps planned:
Camera Extras
This new camera app will provide you several new functionalities to do more with your Nokia Lumia’s Carl Zeiss powered camera. The new settings options are:
- Smart Group Shot: Capture great group shots in just one attempt by choosing the best faces from a burst.
- Action Shot: Capture fast-moving action shots with just one click and significantly improved shooting speed.
- Panorama: This new control feature makes it easy to capture beautiful panorama shots by finding the image in the sequence.
- Self-timer: Set up your Lumia on a stand and get yourself into more photos.
This will be available in Marketplace for the US and China by June 22nd. It will be available for all other countries in July.
Contact Share
This new app will allow you to send and share your contacts via SMS or email.
Counters
It is a new app to monitor your Lumia usage and you can even set up the limits. You can control call-time or data allowances from your operator.

PlayTo
PlayTo will allow you to share pictures, videos and music from your Lumia smartphone to other DLNA –enabled devices on your network. It will be in Marketplace globally by June 22nd.
More about the Software update for Lumia 800 and 710
The new software update for the Nokia Lumia 800 and the Nokia Lumia 710 is being released globally starting June 27th through Zune. This update will be required to take advantage of many of the new apps above. The update is not for Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone.
This latest update will bring the following new features to your smartphone: Internet sharing, Flip-to-Silence and media streaming from your phone.
About Windows Phone 7.8 update on current Lumia smartphones
All Lumia Windows Phone 7.5 smartphone will be getting Windows Phone 7.8 update to make some of the features of Windows Phone 8 including the new Start screen, as well as a pattern of ongoing updates going forward.
