The discounted Roam ticks off many portable speaker boxes, including a dust-tight, waterproof build; bag-friendly form factor; and multi-room Wi-Fi streaming.

Measuring roughly 6.6 by 2.4 by 2.4 inches (HWD), the 1-pound device is available in black or white (the more colorful models are not currently discounted), and supports AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth, as well as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice integration.

Sonos estimates about 10 hours of battery life, though results vary with volume levels. Charge the speaker via any Qi-certified wireless pad, as well as through the included cable. Sonos also sells a branded charger.

Roam’s larger cousin, the 9.5-inch-tall Sonos Move, is a powerful multi-room smart speaker with an eggshell-like white or black finish, voice assistance, and a battery-powered design you can use anywhere.

Its IP56 rating means it can handle limited dust exposure, as well as poolside splashes and light rain. It’s also built to withstand intense sun and even drops. There’s a recessed area that functions as a handle for carrying from room to room. Just be careful not to let all 6.6 pounds of technology land on your flip-flop-wearing foot.

Touch-sensitive controls on the top and side cover play/pause and volume; there are also mic/mic mute, power, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, and Join (for connecting to an existing Sonos network) buttons, as well as a USB-C charging port.
