What Is Labor Day?
Labor Day pays homage to American workers and their contributions to the economy. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became an officially recognized federal holiday in 1894.
When Is Labor Day?
Labor Day is the first Monday in September. In 2023, that means it falls on September 4nd. Many retailers host Labor Day sales on a variety of products during the days leading up to Labor Day as well as on the day itself.
What Kind of Labor Day Deals Can I Expect To Find?
The short answer: all kinds. Products from all different categories go on sale during the Labor Day festivities.
Who Has the Best Labor Day Sales?
That depends on what you’re looking to buy.
Dell—Dell’s doorbuster deals include everything from laptops, desktops, and servers to electronics, accessories, and more. Whether you’re working from home or upgrading your office cubicle, you can find all your business needs at Dell.
Amazon—Amazon’s Labor Day sale extends beyond standard home and furniture deals, with impressive discounts on Apple earbuds and wearables, Amazon streaming sticks, Google smart home appliances, and LG TVs. Add to that a Prime membership, which nets special discounts as well as lightning-fast, two-day shipping.
Walmart—Walmart also offers its own premium subscription, complete with free shipping (no order minimum), early access to special promotions, and contact-free checkout. Keep an eye out for sales on back-to-school tech like laptops, headphones, and tablets.
Best Buy—Best Buy, which regularly discounts various tech items, encourages folks to sign up for a Totaltech membership to get extended product protection, exclusive pricing, free Geek Squad support, and no-cost standard installation/haul-away service—ideal for taking full advantage of upcoming Labor Day deals.
Costco—If you’re buying in bulk, Costco is king. You’d be hard-pressed to find better deals than those Costco regularly offers; and its one-year return window can’t be beat. Still, the retail giant takes part in seasonal sales, hawking laptops, televisions, speakers, security systems, routers, and more for less.
Target—Like most big-box stores, Target has a wide variety of products available for purchase. Explore the store’s lineup of electronics for adults and kids, and get free shipping with the company’s RedCard credit card.
Newegg—Specializing in computer hardware and consumer electronics, Newegg has a dedicated space for shopping premade rigs, or buying all the pieces you need to DIY one instead.
What Should I Buy For Labor Day?
We’re a little biased on that front, but Labor Day has proven to be a great time to find discounts on technology—including, but not limited to, PCs, tablets, wearables, headphones, smart home devices, and appliances.
