It’s never too late to start a podcast—or upgrade the equipment you’re already using.
Make your voice heard in style with the hybrid Shure MV7 USB microphone, which is on sale now from Amazon for $219—12% off the $249 retail cost.
Based on Shure’s SM7B mic (used by Michael Jackson, Jack White, and Sheryl Crow, among others), the MV7 features the same swivel-mount, front-address design with a modern twist.
The mic is available with black or silver metallic enclosures, a screw-on pop filter, and a swivel mount designed to screw into any standard support (sold separately). Almost hidden behind the filter are touch-sensitive controls to mute, adjust levels, and switch between mic gain and headphone volume. Hold the Mute and Level buttons simultaneously to lock or unlock the panel.
The back panel houses an XLR (analog) connection for standard pro-studio cables (not included), as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack and micro USB (digital) connection; the MV7 ships with two cables—one USB-A and one USB-C.
Compatible with Mac and Windows computers, as well as iOS and Android devices (with the applicable cables), the microphone boasts a frequency range of 50Hz to 16kHz, with an A/D converter that can record 16-bit or 24-bit audio at 44.1kHz or 48kHz sample rates.
Whether you’re recording a podcast from the bedroom closet or building a professional music studio, the Shure MV7 hybrid microphone—available now from Amazon for $219 ($30 off the $249 sticker price)—is an “Excellent” choice, according to PCMag.
